With so many different models with their various performance specs I'm just curious to know what is (or was) THE pinnacle of Barco performance?

Searching around I've found info on 1609 & 812 and there seem to be so many models out there.

So what was the best performance PJ Barco has ever offered?

I'm not in the market (yet), but don't mind having something to dream about;)

    Mark.

1209 is what would make me happy, if only it weren't sooo huge.

And then I'd watch Bikini Destinations to find one to dream about :)

I'm wondering what is the BEST performance CRT Barco have made?

    Is a 1609 a brighter version on a 1209? Is a CIne9 more powerful/bright?

What about the 12" Tube 812? Were there any other 12" models?

Physical size isn't important in this respect. I'm have a 10ft screen in a HUGE room, what's the best Barco I could use with that?

If Electrohome it would be the Marquee 9500
If Sony it would be a G90

Basically I'm trying to work out what to lust after ;)

    Hi Mark,

The Cine 9 is definately the best projector Barco produce for home theatre!

The 1209 and 1609 types are the older generation 9" CRT units and are not as sharp or as bright as the Cine 9.

The 12" models (812 and 912) have the brightness but don't really have the sharpness to carry it off (the 812's that I've seen are no sharper than an 8" model)

But if you are going to lust after the Cine 9 - remember it is very, very, very revealing, don't skimp on the ancilliary kit (processor, screen, etc..) or you will regret it!

Do you mean that you should buy an Interpolator Gold to match it? :D

A can confirm a 1209s with colour corrected c lenses is also very nice. That, a good screen and a HTPC and you have a cracking setup.

    Thanks guys..

So it's a Cine9 I should be keeping an eye out for at a bargain peice then? ;)

Hmm Maybe I'd have to settle for less but at least I know the one to aim for.

As for interpolator..I don't know what it is and I don't want to... Knowledge costs me too much money!:suicide:

Richer Sounds had them in set for 499 last week, and you get free Bikini tape onatop.

And now serious, there are many scalers coming out these days for much much less than RichardA's toys and some of them are decent (and serious) enough to pair them with CineMax. And I guess soon or a later there will be used CineMax offered somewhere . . .

I saw one big German TV house doing exactly this with Cine9 and some toplevel Faroudja toy
(They have two of these showrooms)
