Come on guy make some comments on the best TV channel. You grip enough about things being bad what about the good, even if you think it is little.

I'd say channel 4 or bbc1, both excellent.

*RANT* However I'd say with the exception of channel 5, any of them are better than all the sky chanels put together! when I look at the value you get for your tv license versus a years sky subscription, it really pisses me off. I feel you get about a months worth of programs a year with sky and 11 months of repeats. If I could only have either the 5 normal tv channels or the full sky package I'd pick the 5 all day long. *END RANT*

Couldn't agree more with you ferris. The right are always banging on about how the tv licence is an infringement and a rip-off, but look at the average sky subscription £20-£50. so in 3 months you've paid the same for your tv licence and, like you said, only have about a months worth (if that) of original broadcasting.

Then the right bang on about choice, and how they don't choose to pay the licence. That may be so, but you get far, far, far more choice on the bbc than most, if not all, other channels combined. The BBC have a mandate and simply provide programming that other broadcasters can't match in terms of budget, and also many advertisers would balk at some of the more irreverent or original broadcasting. Bravo to the BBC i hope it lives forever :smashin: :smashin: :smashin:

I don't watch much on the channels listed. Much prefer either of the following:

    E4
    CNX (Toonami, blech)
    Paramount

I don't really watch much TV at all (just DVDs now) aside from BBC News 24. However as Dr Who is returning to the BBC in Late 05 I will vote for them as this is likely to be the next 'live' programme I watch.

Probably because there are no adverts. Also programmes aren't commissioned because of ratings per se. Also because there are no adverts the bbc doesn't have to placate the advertisers, or include product placement, meaning that bbc shows have much more integrity. The BBC can also produce shows that they can aim at niche markets that on ITV wouldn't neccessarily be produced because the advertisements wouldn't attract as large and audience and hence revenue.

If you don't like the BBC thats fine, but you can't knock them. They are the only reason that we don't have 5 minutes of adverts followed by 5 minutes of tv, like they have in the states. They drag up the overall quality of programming as well as other broadcasters have to aspire to attract audiences away from them, hence making higher quality shows.

Why do you think American TV at the moment is experiencing an unprecedented level of British TV, such as teletubbies, weakest link, millionaire, big brother etc etc.

It's the BBC that has produced such quality as Walking with Dinosaurs, David Attenborough, Dr Who, the BBC news and too many other quality programming pieces to name here :D :D :D

There's a BIG difference in promoting other BBC 'products' between shows compared to interrupting shows 'half way through' to sell you something at a GREATLY INCREASED AVERAGE VOLUME.

BBC2 - generally the one I end up watching most, but I am purely driven by individual progs - am happy to channel hop - but 2 gets most of my time. BBC1 of good quality, but too mainstream (light). Occasional great stuff on C4. C5 improving a little. ITV? pap!

Very rarely watch any of the above channels , but my vote went for BBC1 as i think their news and weather coverage is good.
But my fave channels at the moment must be SKY1 an FX289.

I tend to watch C4 or BB2 most out of those. BBC2 gets it though as it doesn't feature June Sarpong.

I hardly ever watch Iam-a-chavTV1. Just nothing on there which seems worth watching.

    BBC1 & C5 have their moments.
