What is the best camcorder at around £4-500 mark to be used with a mac?

I have been doing some endless researching, not getting such encouraging results. I need a good quality HD camcorder at around £500. I will be editing on a mac using Final Cut Pro, sometimes Imovie. Many of the digital cameras do not support Final Cut Pro and you need to use a converter, I do not want to go through this process for every edit. Any recommendations please??

Any camera that shoots to AVCHD will be supported in Final Cut Pro. To date I have not come across any cameras that are not supported by FCP (although I'm not saying there aren't a couple out there), you just sometimes need a free, one time install plugin.

As to exactly which camera you want, I'm afraid there are others here that could answer that question better (plus the countless threads), but as long as it's AVCHD it will work.
