What is the best 36" TV.

    Simply put, Money aside what is the best 36" TV we can buy here in the UK.
    My pal has money burning a hole in his pocket.
    He does not want a plasma or RPTV but a whopping big CRT
    any help would be great

    The best picture I have seen was on a Philips 36PW9607. Not even Sony comes close. Pixel Plus gives a fantastic picture. The sound is great too.

    If your mate can wait a bit longer then get the Toshiba 36ZD26P. I'm currently waiting for the UK stock to arrive (end of this month) but its should be a cracking TV. The 32" models are already out and everyone is lapping it up. It supports NTSC Progressive Scan, one of only two TVs made that can support it. If you want the best picture quality then progressive scan is the one.

    I've heard that the Tosh can also do internal PAL progressive scan but no-one has a suitable DVD player yet to test it.

    Other options would be one of the Loewe TVs... Just wait until the end of the month to see what the Toshiba is capable of and then decide.
