a few months ago, Arcam renewed their website. On the tab "future products" it says: "please return here at the end of the year for information about our new product category"

it's now almost the end of the year, so what is the new product and info we should be looking for? :D

Its now the start of a new year, and beyond the "end of the year" as advertised on the ARCAM website, and still no update. Do you think we could do them for false advertising :)

ARCAM is currently closed for the Christmass break. Expect the new product information after the CES show when the new products will be launched. However it will take some time for the Marketing department to get round to updating the web site. Please be patient.

    Regards,
    Andrew

Thanks for the response Andrew. We have little patience when it comes to new Arcam stuff, the upgrade bug never dies :) Even though we know what they are in this case, seeing proper pic's and spec's could make the wallet come out again.

I'm surprised about the what you say about the marketing team. If they are anything like the Sales and Marketing for the IT companies I have worked for, they have the products advertised & sold before we have even built and tested them!! ;)

    Cheers

    Andy

nothing moew on the Diva AVP700 and P1000 yet ??? can't wait to know more on those.

    just found:
The AVP700 ($2200) features HDMI switching (a still-rare feature, particularly in pre-pros), while the P1000 ($2300) provides seven-channels of 135Wpc amplification. Look for them both in May.

I suspect the new 700 is a stripped down avr 300 ie without the amplification with hdmi switching added but the power amp 1000 is probably totally new!!!! I would add just the power amp to my avr 300 as I doubt there would be any processing differences between the 700 and the 300. I could of course be totally wrong.

I cant wait to demo it.

I think you're missing the major feature that distinguishes the new gear. The AVP700 and P1000 feature balanced pre/pwr interconnections. This can provide a dramatic improvement in performance and is something usually seen only in the high end stuff.

While the AVP700 with standard amps may or may not be significant improvement over an AVR300 with ext amps, the AVP700 with a balanced amp most likely will provide a significant improvement.

Of course, I haven't heard them, so I'm just making a guess that I consider reasonable.

Can anyone tell me what the balanced pre/power connections are? Have never seen these before. What is the differnce between these and standard RCA connections?

Just for the record, the website still says come back here in February, and it is now the 1st. That's twice they have changed it, just set it to Dec 2005 or something, rather that being realistic, rather than changing to a time frame which is not going to be met. :)

Balanced interconnects provide dramatic improvement on long distances (audiophile dream setting – one monoblock amp right beside each speaker).
I seriously doubt that the improvement will be dramatic (if at all) in most of our setups, where we use 1 – 2’ long unbalanced interconnects – specially if we are using quality, well shielded cables.

Of course, I’m just guessing :)

and then again, seeing the pricing of this AVP700, I do hope that they changed/added more then just the HDMI switching and balanced pre's. Also knowing they removed the amp's from this device, leaves me with hope that they somehow improved something else as well..... but what

and also the P1000..... there is no amp at this moment that can be compared with this one.... If I check all the watt of the current amps.... no-one is equal to this one. New design???

:offtopic: But please excuse me.The pricing of the 700 and the 1000 (2300 dollars apiece ??) suggest to me that Arcam are aiming at Rotels share of this part of the mid price market- the 1098 processer by Rotel and the rotel 1067 power amp spring to mind.

Looking at the spec of the Rotel 1098 for example the only thing it offers over the Arcam avr 300 in processing terms is HDCD decoding ......oh and a little screen on the unit for set up purposes yet this retails at well over 3000 euros in Germany approx 2200 pounds!!! Suddenly 1300 pounds for the Arcam 700 looks cheap by comparison. if they get this right at Arcam- Rotel could be under pressure. After all, apart from NAD, who else does a processer power amp in this sector\ price range ? The only other one I know of is the new Sherwood combination which has had excellent reviews in Germany and retail at a modest 3500 euros.

I wonder what will happen to the a90 7.1 and the p90-3 now??

I am saving already for my new Arcam kit.
