Hi - first post in this section I think...wondering if anybody could answer my question please.
I've read Pal PS refered to here as 576/50p - which I understand to be 576 lines at 50hz progressive scan....correct?
I have my Sony HS1 hooked up to Sky+ and my DVD player via an iscan pro...when watching R1 NTSC movies, my PJ tells me it's recieving 480/60p, which I understand to be correct - but it tells me anything in the pal format (Sky, R2 etc) is in 575/50p...
Am I losing lines/gaining lines somewhere.
I must admit that Pal dosen't look as good as NTSC sometimes, then other times it looks as good, whereas NTSC is consistantly excelent, and football can sometimes be unwatchable....

Nothing to worry about. Probably just different nomenclature.

PAL is 625i lines. Around 576 are picture information
NTSC is 480i lines. Around 480 are picture information

Gordon, you must have typed that in a hurry :)

    Basically Sony can't count!

For some reason I've yet to fathom all Sony Pro and Broadcast kit refers to 575 lines instead of 576 lines - it gets very confusing
