I keep seeing it mentioned but what visible benefits do you actually see from a TV that has'nt got it?
If your TV does not have a progrssive compatible input then you get no benefit at all from progrssive scan. The TV needs to have component inputs and be progressive compatible to get any benefit. Normal TV pictures and non progressive signals from DVD etc only update half the screen (alternate lines) at a time. Progressive means the full screen is refreshed every time. This gives a sharper, smoother picture. Mark.
You can read an article all about it here http://www.whatvideotv.com/articles/index.html It's the one right at the bottom of the page
robocop Ive got progressive ntsc and pas on my dvd player and tv and it is awesome to watch. The detail is so much more impressive and there is no jaggies at all. If your dvd is poor quality then no miracles can happen but on most it is very good picture and on some the quality is very close to cinema. All depends on the dvd. I watched apocalypse now on dvd progressive scan and it was awesome. then watched a bit on interlaced which is good on my player but still the picture wasnt as sharp or and detailed as pro scan. Definately recommend it.!!
