CDDA (Compact Disk Digital Audio) is the format that is used to write music CD information onto a compact disk. If you had to put a music CD into a computer CDROM drive and view the contents, you will see filenames for each audio track but the file size will only be about 1kb for each track because of the way the data is encoded.

If you had copied MP3 music files to your compact disk, the file sizes would range on average from 30M to 40M depending on the length of the song and the level of compression.

This type of disk would not play on a normal CD player unless the CD player supported MP3.

There are DVD palyers however that support MP3 playback.

Normally, CD players only support the CDDA format which was the original format when music was introduced to compact disks.

Your DVD player will support a number of different compact disk formats and CDDA is one of them for backwards compatibility.

    Hope this answers your question.
