    As for spec:
The PV500 has the extra subfoofers so sound is better.
The PV500 has the SD card slot.
The PX60 has 2 HDMI inputs the PV500 only has 1.

    As for PQ:
You should have a look at both for comparison and make up your own mind but here is my two penny worth.
I have the PV500 and having now seen and played (briefly) with the new PX60 I have to say I was dissapointed that the picture quality wasn't miles ahead of the PV500. Having read the hype I was obviously expecting too much. I havent seen them side by side and havent played with the PX60 in the comfort of my own home but I would say there is'nt too much between them.

    As for style:
Its all a matter of taste, I prefer the PV500 but then that was my choice, others will think differently.

    As for known issues:
the PV500 has some known issues, contrast shift, buzzing etc. I'm lucky in that my PV500 is trouble free. The PX60 is still very new so may develop problems but first impressions are that its nice and quiet and I havent heard of any suffering from contrast shift.

    As for cost:
The fact I could get the 42-PV500 from John Lewis (price matched Dixons £1800 & 5 year warranty) swayed it for me. But you will have difficulty getting that price at the moment so the PX60 will probably work out cheaper.

Thats a good price especially with cab, ( assuming its the 42"). Is the price with John Lewis? if not its always worth trying for a JL price match to get the 5 year warranty

The pv500 is still significantly more expensive than the px60, despite it being the older discontinued model. I would think the px600 would be more comparable to the pv500, especially as it will have the upgraded sound system, similar to the pv500.

Only had the PV500 for about a month so still not pushing contrast levels too far and as such haven't used dve. Having said that I'm very pleased with the PQ with only basic adjustments, I will probably invest in DVE and tweak the settings after the screen has a few more hours.
