What I have come to realise about PS3 !!!!

after exchanging my PS3 because i thought the fan was to loud i now realise how much of an amazing piece of kit the PS3 really is. i now realise the fan is not loud,i just expected it to be lower but it spins at that speed for a reason,to keep it cool enough to operate efficiently. the PS3 is not a £2000 PC with liquid cooling,so why expect it to operate like one. i think everyones expectations were really high for the PS3 but i now realise that i am not disappointed in any way. the PS3 is still in its infancy and like the PS2 i am sure it will never disappoint me in any way.
sitting beside my wii and 360 i now know if i had to choose one it would be PS3.the build quality and overall look far exceeds both the 360 and wii in every way. from sound, feel of casing and materials used are everything the 360 wishes it could be.i know everyone will scream but what about the 360 for live and games!!!! trust me the PS3 is only getting started, sony as a corporation have everything microsoft could only dream of,from sony music to sony columbia pictures. so give PSN a chance. i still lve my 360 and wii but the PS3 i feel will give me more satisfaction in the long run i feel.

I'll be watching this thread closely and if it even whiffs of anything argumentative I'm going to close it, you have been warned.:lesson: ;)

I'm sure we can all surely agree that it is far too early in the PS3s lifespan to be proclaiming it as the best.

Certainly does look the best switched off :)

I think it's an amazing piece of kit for the price. I wont be buying one though, for the reason I already have a HD-DVD for HD movies and I have both WII and 360. I would have bought one if I didn't have a 360 or a HD-DVD player. But I think between the 360 & wii I'll be able to buy a huge % of the games coming out for the PS3 anyway & the % I won't be able to buy I just won't care that much about.

Awesome bit of kit, plus bit of a bargin i reckon! Far to much nonsense about it being to expensive

I think most would agree that as a piece of technology it is indeed a bargain, however as a games machine it is too expensive.

microsoft are not a hardware company and it shows, they released a machine that they know was not tested properly.already they are releasing the elite after telling us HDMI was unnecessary! there machine is the most unreliable buggy console i have ever had with games that are released without features so they ca capitilise on marketplace downloads

I think its the 360's noise and the fact so many breakdown (I'm on my 3rd)thats making people myself included prefair the ps3 if the 360 was as quiet and came with a built-in hd-dvd drive and hdmi as standard it would be impossible to prefair one console or the other but there's good and bad points to them both and i'm just happy to be able to have both :smashin:

You think Sony are any different ? Give me a break. All these threads that comapre the 360 and the PS3 are getting very old and tiring now. At the end of the day anyone who thinks one is better then the other needs to get it into their heads that both have their pros and cons and neither is overall better then the other.

Yet you proclaim in your first post that you 'lve' your 360....

Ah the transparency of the troll...................

And don't even start me on your spelling.....................:boring:

In my opinion, it looks like an ugly beast sat on my rack.

Right there with you *rotf*

It does help if you tuck it away in the darkest lower shelf though.

To the OP well good for you
Different things though do appeal to different people and I unfortunately am unable to share any of the enthusiasm about the machine as you.. and that is pretty damn frustrating when you have forked out all that cash. In the best part of the last fortnight I have only had the PS3 turned on once to check that the Casino Royale disk worked... just so damn blah about the whole thing and already bored of the games (gee all two of them) I have. Keep looking around hoping that something will spark some enthusiasm again but it's just all too missing (for me).

From recent usage time I have been hitting the consoles in this order... 360, Wii, PSP (yay for FFVII working), and a distant PS3. No really trying to knock the box but I just wish there was some excitement inducing news about :( I really had a downer on the PS3 before it's launch and I hoped to be proved wrong (you know like a holiday you are not really looking forward to ending up being one of the best) but alas not.

Believe me, any good/exciting news welcome!!

The PS3 is a lovely piece of kit and the build is top notch.

I love my 360 to bits and the games line is great but the fact is, its very poorly built and is very loud compared to the PS3. Just hope M$ bring out a revised version soon and I don't mean the Elite model.

I concur, sadly.

Did not plan to buy one, enjoy the 360 lots, allowed self to get caught up in the excitement of a new toy, and now have a bit of 'buyers remorse'.

Don't get me wrong, I think it will one day be a good gaming platform, but at the moment the games are so.............meh.

Presently playing Shadow of the Colossus for the first time ever, and loving it, but it's a bit of an indictment that this older PS2 title is more enjoyable for me than any of the launch titles.

That's what I'm doing too, I'm using a £425 console to play PS2 games  Okami rocks btw :D

On the subject of PS2 games on PS3, it's a bit of shame its not full screen, as theres border round the image.

*amused* It's funny that so many dismiss BC as being unimportant yet that seems to be quite a popular use of the box at the moment.

Well I have the PS2 setup since there are many hours logged on FFXII which I do not have the kit to transfer to the PS3 otherwise I might try that route... but would be weird using the somewhat hit and miss BC to play games that work fine on the PS2.

I thought Okami 'had issues'? Can you confirm?

I haven't had any issues. It's been reported that the intro music skips a bit, but I haven't noticed, I wasn't paying attention at the time. The game works great and its only £15 at HMV online I think.
