What us it with What Hifi, they complain, that recordings from the internal tuner are noisy, ghost and smear?
Plus its recordings are 2nd rate compared to Sony and Panasonic.

Someone whose had Panasonic and the latest Pioneers care to comment?

Well I've used the cheapie ones from both and find the Pioneer recordings on -R at a decent level are as good as the Panasonic but not fitting component outs to the Pioneer range does hamper the picture in an absolute sense- which is often how WHF work.

Did you record from digital or the analogue tuner?
I haven't got SKY yet, but will be getting a Freesat setup.

Just whacked a scart from a Sky box in there. I'm a resident of Milton Keynes so don't "do" terrestrial telly.
