Ok, so I just bought a PS3 and don't have much money left! I came across this TV and its really cheap! I realise its by no means a great TV but its the cheapest HD TV thats 42" that I have found. Problem is I cannot find out any more info on it, I have searched all over but no where is it listed what HD modes it will do. Clearly its not going to do 1080p but 1080i would be nice. Can anyone tell from this spec what its able to do? does anyone know anything about this TV?

Thanks in advance for your help, it is appreciated.

It will (should) do 720p and 1080i via HDMI.

Supported yes , but doesnt mean it can display 1080i 1:1 , and therefore scale it down.

Just accepting the signals does not mean it's not a pile of poo though. All of these european 'second rate' brand names are what we call SKD designs. They are bought as a kit of parts in China, imported and assembled in EU for tax reasons. The parts are often world generic, and 80% of the world runs it's video at 60Hz. A moderate amount of HD is 60Hz, but all pal stuff is 50Hz, and may not work that well. You have been warned.

Well it will be replacing a Goodman 42" plasma SD, which (by your definition) is also a second rate european brand. At the end of the day, I have enjoyed over 2 years of my goodmans and feel I want something that supports HD at least in sime respect. This is perfect as I am on a tight budget. I wish I could just throw another 2 or 300 quid at it but I dont have that to spend. Of course if you would like to forward me the extra cash please know it would be welcomed :) hehe.

This TV will be at the very least better than what I have, and while I realise that it is not to everyones taste it will be fine for me.

    Thanks for your comments though.

I just wanted to update this. I went ahead and bought this TV. It does 1080i (prob upscaling or whatever its called) but I have to say how impressed I am with this TV, it really is soooooo much better than what I had before and for £499 I really don't see how you can go wrong. I am really really dead impressed with my purchase. And really, only AV Snobbs are going to tear this apart after seeing it.

For the cash, I cant recommend this enough.
