What has happened to my iPhone? I seem to have inadvertently placed 2.7GB of "Other" data on my iPhone - how do I get rid of it?

Just in case anyone has the same issue - I had to restore the phone via iTunes - settings were replaced from back up - apps add to be re-installed.
