I've recently rediscovered PC gaming, and after finishing HalfLife2 and FarCry I'm looking for a challenge. I prefer FPS's but preferably not ones that are just all-out blasting. I assume there are some great ones from the past - if I can get them cheap all the better ! Please recommend away. Thanks.

Willrock, its like a new serious sam, is just an out and out shooter although there are the traditional fps 'puzzles'. Best bit is you can co-op with loads of people which is quite a laugh if your all in the same room or have voice com.

System shock was awesome too. Bit long in the tooth now but an awesome game. Quake 2 is one of my all time favourites.

The best online FPS I have ever played was DOD (Actually a HL mod) the amount of play that got was unbelivable. I cant wait until they release the soruce version for HL2.

Deas Ex should come under that heading athough not all shooting.
Both No One Lives For Ever are great games.
And if you wand a first person stab them in the back the Thief series.

All above on cheap Soldier of Fortune is good but thats a pure shooter.

Thanks everyone. I've actually started Deus Exe, as I had a copy from some time ago and never played it. Seems OK but the graphics are obviously a bit behind HL2 standard. After that I'll start working through your suggestions....
