    as title say ^

I was going for Q Acoustics 1010 5.1 Home Cinema Package but I just want to check before I going for the right one which cost £499.99 but I did have money between 500 to near 700 - so checking for possible better option.

    Thanks

ps by the way the speaker will be on the wall and Q acoustics got Bracket for it. If there other option for wall bracket for the speaker?

To be honest, at the price I'd rule out the Kef eggs. The subs not great and the overall sound isn't the class leader it once was. I used to have the Eggs and loved them back in the day, but they've been caught up.

    How about these.

It has a good sub, that's well liked on the forum. Don't underestimate the effect the sub has on the overall package. When I heard some, I was pleasantly surprised by their nice open voicing for a littl'un. No doubt this is helped by having a large twin mid/bass driver that doesn't struggle as much as the systems with the LCR sats.

Don't rule out the Cantons in the forum powerbuys either.

I look into but I believe it only 4 star compare to Q acoustics 1010 which had 5 star but I do like the Mordaunt-Short Avant Premiere look.

WHARFEDALE DIAMOND 9.1AV look good price on superfi. Is this discon? Can't see on wharfedale site for diamond 9.1av part from 9 hcp.

If I have a pick one today what your option (demo yes I know just forget that) and the choice are Wh Diamond 9.1av or Q acoustics 1010 or Mordaunt-Short Avant Premiere.

Also the speech is quite important to me to hear clear but I love sub bass.

    Thanks again for your option

Please don't get caught up in magazines and star ratings.... go and listen to them and see what you think personally... magazines can be good for a start point but that's about as far as it goes in my opinion.

Like Scott says, if you want to brag to your mates, buy the stuff with 5 stars. Otherwise, buy the best gear for the price. I'm running stuff (not to brag) that is many time more expensive than what's being considered here, and the MS Premier kit REALLY impressed me. No, I'm not about to flog my gear, but when I hear stuff like this, it's always a pleasant surprise. It re-afirms that progress is being made and at quite a rate.

I could rate stuff like What Hi-fi if you want, but then the manufacturers aren't spending any of their advertising budget with me.;)

How can I demo them? I guess you can't demo in one place in one day for 2-3 speaker to demo? What the closer shop in kent or east suessex to demo speakers?

how you set your centre speakers hor or ver?

okay I think about this in my mind - I think I would get this over Q acoustics 1010 [unsure]

Also I'm getting sony 1200 to start off - until the amp will enable the new audio from hdmi.

I have demo'd the MS Genies and Kef's 2005 side by side with the same source. I found the MS Genies to sound better. Esepcially noticied the sub and centre speaker to sound better compared to the Kef's

Just demo'd the KEF 2005.2's @ Super-fi in London. Very impressive. They said that the Q Acoustics 1010 5.1 package was crap compared to these, and Jay couldn't understand how they got all those awards

Problem is, loads of people (I know...I should make my own mind up...) on these forums, say that the MS Genies are much better than the KEF 2005.2 package. So I rang Seven oaks for their opinion, and they told me that "MS is a Richer Sounds company". I asked him what he meant exactly, and he told me that the same company owns Richer Sounds, Cambridge Audio and Mordant Short. Is that true.

He basically was saying that the MS genies were a budget system compared to the KEF eggs.

Has anyone compared/demo'd the KEF 2005.2 with Q Accoustics 1010 packages directly?

Have a look at the Mordaunt short avant 900i range as for the price you get a stunning bit of kit.
Purchased mine bit by bit from richer sounds.
    906i floorstanders £299.00
    905i Centre £119.00
    309i sub around £229.00
At present are using Gale 3060 bipole on the rear £49.00 from richer sounds.
have a look at the reviews on the 900i range you will be impressed.

Hi - I'm basically interested in the same question and was choosing between the acoustics and the kef 2005.2 as they are available at approx the same price at the mo. Was (without hearing them thus far) tending to err towards the Q Acoustics as I will be listening to more TV stuff (in stereo) than surround and as the q were best buys for stereo speakers that's influencing my thinking at the mo. Anybody heard any similar comments like those from the Super-Fi guy in the post above?

I was looking to spend this kind of money recently on a 5.1 sub/sat system.

I narrowed my choices down to Kef 2005.2s and MS Genies as (sadly) the look and size of the package is important to me and I didn't want square boxes on my walls. That rules out a lot of probably great sounding newer stuff that is getting better reviews.

In the end I bought the Kefs as they just looked much better build quality wise and have a large amount of unanimously positive reviews FWIW. I picked up a set for £450 and I'm very pleased with the sound.

I just got the aego-t package - sounds great to me. My previous setup was 2 x Kef Q1 for fronts, Kef Q9c centre speaker and a pair of eggs for rears. This was pretty good but the rears obviously a bit mismatched and no sub (allthough the centre Q9c delivers a fair bit of bass).

I had to move to a sub/sat package as there is a baby due and can't have speakers on stands for fear of flat baby problem. The only worry now is sick-on-subwoofer.

Anyway, the Aegos sound a lot better with 5.1 material, thunderous bass from the sub, excellent immersive surround from the sats and really crisp dialogue from the centre. I was suprised to find they also sound pretty good in stereo - I was expecting to be a bit disappointed as the Q1s have always sounded really nice, but the aegos hold their own. Build quality is excellent and they also look great, matching my gloss black samsung perfectly.

    cheers
    dan.

I recently bought a Kef 5005 package from Superfi and set them up over Christmas with my new Sony 3200ES receiver. I'm thrilled with the combination. The sub is a little lazy, but it is tight and above all musical - making for powerful and untiring home cinema. If you're already a fan of the Kef sound, and that smooth high end, then I think they may put a smile on your face.:smashin:

    Big smiles,

    Andy.

I bought the Kef speakers 2 or 3 years ago for £700 and think they are great. I am thinking of uprgrading end of the year but the most impresive thing about the system is the sub.
