What game convinced your friends/relatives to purchase the same machine as you

I owned a snes and while my mate was over i stuck in starwing, my mate had a mega cd at the time and watched in awe as the snes pulled off the same sort of stuff in the starwing intro on a cartridge that the mega cd addon was capable of and unlike the mega cd starwing had the gameplay to match!

My mate traded in his megadrive and mega cd the very next day and purchased a new super nes. How times change tho what was once great is now obsolete, the original starwing on the snes looks like a bag of cow dung nowadays. :D

Wii Sports seems to do the trick! :)
Friends i had over were impressed with the actual game control but said it looks crap when compared to my and their 360's and ps3's, sadly i have to agree (in any case at the time they visited over the xmas period, they wouldn't have been able to buy one in store at any rate) :D

Its true... Grandparents all over the country are buying them now after the Christmas bonding sessions with their grandchildren.

The future of serious in depth gaming is in trouble if minigames are what the masses want.

GT2/3 persuaded many a mate to buy a PS2.

4 people I know have bought 360s on the strength of playing mine.

2 because of Gow
1 because of Skate
1 because Dead Rising (pretty much the reason why I bought a 360).

In addition to that, 2 other people at work have bought them just because myself and a co-worker go on about them so much.

So 6 in all really. Too bad it was all before the MS referal scheme to get free arcade games :(

Forgot to say, I bought a PS2 after playing GTAIII at a friend's house. I was well into the Dreamcast at that point and had no interest in the PS2 otherwise, but after playing that I bought one at the next payday. I cant remember enjoying much else on it mind you, other than GTA:VC & GTA:SA.

I convinced about 5 of my mates to get a 360 with Xbox Live after organising a gaming day with 2 360's and 2 copies of Halo, needless to say they all had great fun. All of them now have 360's.

I was convinced to get a N64 over a Playstation when I saw my friend playing Mario Kart.

Has to be Wii Sports for me. Several family members (all non gamers) bought one due to one night of drunken fun.

Another Wii Sports here. Parents bought it after playing ours and other relatives bought a Wii after playing their copy.

I've convinced a load of mates from work to get either a 360 or PS3 for call of duty sessions.

However, it backfired as some got the 360 and some the PS3, so I had to get COD4 for both:rolleyes:

Yep has to be Wii Sports for me! Never known anything like it. Got the Wii at launch an then during early 2007 various people came over, played Wii Sports and then next thing I know they'd all gone and bought Wiis!

Must have been at least 6 or 7 Wiis sold off the back of folks playing Wii sports round mine.
