what gains with prog scan?

    Just received panny th42pe30 ...brilliant, but im using multiregion toshiba 220 ...no prog scan, what gains would I see if I buy latest toshiba 240 or pioneer 575 that have it. thanks

    It is better, but some people don't really notice the difference...best thing is to get a new player on loan and see if YOU can notice the difference...:smashin:

    It depends upon the quality of the de-interlacer in the DVD player. With my old Sony 930 player & my current Arcam DV79, progressive scan enabled in the dvd player is a very worthwhile upgrade over using the deinterlacer in the PW6. The main improvement is no 'blurring' or 'ringing' of dark edges on a light background (or vice versa).
