I would rather studios released their movies on full spec discs with DD and DTS and high bitrate transfers first time round, rather than released multipule discs in differing versions and ripping us off. But then i would like to win the lottery as well and I feel I have more chance of winning the Lottery........

I like DVDs to have extra features so am not really a fan of 'superbit' releases.

There are certainly plenty of DVDs which need to be re-released in better quality though - Blade Runner being top of my list.

Gotta agree with The Abyss and The Mask. I'd like to see them too. Also, True Lies could be good, although my R4 version already has a superb picture.

    Matrix trilogy

Though I suspect a good few versions The Matrix Repackaged will be released over the coming years with some extra features added on each time anyway.

Blade Runner would have to get my vote.

Would also like to see decent version of Highlander at some point as well.

Superbit as is - is a marketing gimmick!

All transfers should go for high bit rates if appropiate and put extras on a second disc.

ie normal release using all disc 1 for film disc 2 for features

Some disc have very little extras but do but I take it they do not use the max bit rate available.

And most of the movies above won't see the light of day on Superbit as they're aren't columbia titles.

Marv, why on earth do you say Saving Private Ryan? It's already available with both DTS and DD, and the picture is superb.

    Hi,

I'd like to see all films being given a 2-disc release, with disc 1 containing the "Superbit" (or equivalent) versoin of the main feature, and noting else, and all the extras (or a 4:3 version of the film, for those who absolutely must watch butchered prints of films) on disc 2.

Films I'd like to see in Superbit, though, would have to include:

    - Blade Runner (all versions as seamless branching)
    - The Abyss: Special Edition
    - Terminator 2: Judgment Day - (all versions as seamless branching)
    - Manhunter (the Michael Mann original, and all versions as seamless branching)
    - Star Wars: The original 1977, 1983 and 1987 movies only! (all versions as seamless branching)
    - Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade
    - Shiri
    - Hard-Boiled
    - Bullet In The Head
    - Akira
    - Beetlejuice
    - Run, Lola, Run
    - Cinema Paradiso (all versions as seamless branching)
    - The Exorcist (all versions as seamless branching)
    - Legend (Ridley Scott's fantasy classic!)
    - Thief (Michael Mann)
    - The Last Of The Mohicans
    - Spirited Away

And probably a ton of others as well! :)

    PoochJD,

I like it seamless brancing and all. Has anyone got any seamless branching discs and do they work or is it like having loads of layer changes. Haven't got any myself you see.
