Hi all, :hiya: im new to this site and dvd recorders, which brings me nicely to this question, what dvd would suit my needs. The main points of interest to me are, hdd, the ability to re-write disks and being able to record one programe while watching another. I have about £270 to spend and would be gratefull for any sugestions.

    Thanks, John.

I chose the Toshiba XS34 because it had the biggest HD for the price (excluding non mainstream recorders), and did the other things you require. I had seen the Tosh for £265, though I paid £295 for a multi region model.

It is fair to say that there are other models you might like to consider from Sony, Pioneer, and Panasonic.

I have been very pleased with the Pioneer 530H that I bought a few weeks ago. IMHO it is one of the best DVDRs I have come across.

If your budget can stretch to around £299, this is worth considering also.

Don't suppose you can remember where you saw the Tosh at that price can you?
I'm seeing it around the £300 but can't seem to get it for much less.
There is a banner add here on this site at the top of this very page that says £270 delivered - but when you click on it it's actually £300.
