My TV is said to have a DVI-I socket, in order to connect my DVI equipped graphics card to the TV do I need a DVI-D-->DVI-I cable? or can I just use a DVI-D-->DVI-D cable?

If you want the digital signal, you just need a DVI-D to DVI-D cable.
