Friend of mine has the following at the moment :

Sony LCD TV with HDMI, Scart, Component, Freeview
Topfield Freeview HDD box with twin tuner
Liteon DVD recorder
NTL Cable box

He wants to be able to view and record to DVD or HDD Freeview and NTL cable

Is this possible in one box ?

It would need :

HDMI to the TV
Freeview tuner (dual ideally)
Analogue tuner
DivX support from DVD
HDD
DVD recorder (include dubbing from the HDD)
Upscaling over the HDMI - not essential

I thought the Sony 860 was going to fit the bill but that doesnt have an analogue tuner :thumbsdow

Any other suggestions ??

It doesn't need to have an analogue tuner to record freeview and NTL cable (it can record the NTL through the SCART socket).

So 860 fits the bill.

There aren't any DVD recorders with HDD and dual tuners as far I know.

The Pioneer HX models have analogue and digital tuners, but only one of each.

I'll have to have another look at his NTL box - its an old one that he bought from an engineer ;) so not sure if it has Scart output. If so good news for him. Thanks.
