Pioneer 656 is a top machine for < £350. Not only does it produce good images and sound but it also plays SACD & DVD-A.

Got mine from Richer sounds for £320 but I understand the RS are having trouble getting enough stock.

A useful price comparison site is ukpricerunner

Does the remote hack for this player work OK with RCE titles i.e. like Spider-man? It's the only disc I've ever had any trouble with. It only works with manual region selection.

You could also concider the Tosh 520 which can be bought for less than £200. Spend the extra on good interconnectors and DVDs :)

hi their, with out a doubt the 963 sa is the best player on the market in the sub £500 bracket i got one of these for progressive out put mainly to get the best out of my plasma. after having had 5 players last one sony 705 this player is leaps and bounds ahead of anything i have owned especially 2 ch stereo this player makes a great all rounder for dvd & music even sacd sounds much warmer than the sony, u will have absolutly no regrets if you choose this player .
