I have a Samsung 709 which I am sort of happy with.

Trouble is, I bought it some years ago, just to get into DVD.. I never imagined that 2 years later, Home Cinema would be one of my main interests.

My system is fairly impressive, but the hub of it all is a 'budget' DVD player.

The icing on the cake, is that I have a fast PC, DV camcorder, Firewire interface and SVCD software and therefore have the ability to knock up VCD/SVCDs..

Unfortuantly, my 709 doesn't support CDRs.

So, I want a player which has the following features:-

    - Multi Region (Automatic)
    - Macrovision Disabled
    - PAL 50 (Although I think this is going to be unlikely)
    - CDR Support
    - 2 x SCART
    - Good trick play (i.e the ability to fast worward at very high speed (The Samsung does 2, 4, 8, 16 and 32x))

Does anyone have any recommendations/advice for me?

    Jon

    Hi,

    depends on your budget.
Marantz,Pioneers and phillips all are capable of playing CDr.
The Sony 7700 is also CDr capable.

I am interested in the 535 from pioneer.
Only thing is with the new RCE protection i don't really trust the automatic modifiers.
I prefer the manual or auto/manual modification

CD audio quality from the 535 is OK, but if you then connect up a 'proper' CD player
    you will notice the difference!

Yes indeed!, especially if your CD player is not also a Pioneer
