Many of you guys may have seen my build thread, but if not, then I'll outline the basics.
    Nu3000dsp
    DIY 131 litre cabinet
    Audiobahn aw150t 15" driver
    Antimode 8033c

I'm starting to think about upgrading the driver as I think I may have hit the limits of what the audiobahn is capable of.

My question is: if I were to upgrade the driver, what would be a worthwhile upgrade? What driver will be perfect in my cabinet? Obviously, I can make the internal volume smaller but I can't make it larger.
Would an fiQ be the way to go? Or would an SI driver be the way to go? 15" or 18"
My thoughts are the si 18" driver but I don't know if the 131 litre cabinet is big enough for one of those drivers.

Any help would be appreciated :)

If you could and I know you can't is down the road of a second unit...............but if not then the fi Q18 or the si18 would probably give you the biggest bang for the buck depending on your budget of course.

2nd unit like you say is a definite no!!

Is there any point in going for a 15" fi or si?

Yes!! but because your restricted to just the one sub I thought don't pass go don't collect £200 and go straight for an 18" which if smacked into the corner with the 8033 it should sound awesome:eek:.......I believe the q18 would be the easiest out of the two to drive.

I think I'll be saving up for an 18" fiQ then :)
Not that I need much more, it's just that I am look for dynamic bass. I can't turn my gain up any lore on the amp as it just introduces rumble when there's not supposed to be. And the same as everyone else, I'm looking for that tactile sensation. Not that I'm not getting any with the cheapo aw150t, I just want MORE!!!

Will model them in a few mins for you.

Just want to say the audiobahn is a awesome sub for the money and yes the other subs will beat it and ad cleaner but would be surprised if set up beside a pricier sub in the same position just how good they are and a pricier sub won't give not double.

The si will be alot easier to driver than the Fi as the si will only need 600w rms unlike the 1500w Rms or the Fi and that's in both 15 and 18.

Power is not a problem as you know. I have the 3000 dsp
Also, the fiQ won't take as much power as its in a bigger box, I would imagine both the fiQ and the si ht will hit xmax due to the larger cab?

Scott. Could you model 2 x aw150t in a 130 litre box? I was thinking I could put the extra driver in the bottom of the cabinet, set up in the same fashion as a dxd 12012 (push/pull)

Should be better output and less distortion in theory... :D

Will do my computer is being a nob at the moment.
How would you wire them for a 4ohm load.
Maybe look at 2 1500v and wire for a 4ohm load.

That's a good idea plus cost effective for the extra performance output...........I bottomed out one of my drivers the other day after driving them/it too far with some music that goes real low (classical obo)........something the 8033 should also sort out for me.

    I would feed 2 x 4ohm load 1 driver from each channel.

right I have done in your box but rounded it upto 150l with say some fill, all with xmax hitting at 10hz or not if the box is to small like the q18 so its at max power.
    2x aw150t = 475w rms = qtc = 0.812
    2x 1500v = 925w rms = qtc = 0.899
    fi q 18" = 1500w rms = qtc = 0.698
    si ht18" = 600w rms = qtc =0.733

and in a 130l cab as its bigger than recommended.
    a fi q 15" = 1275w rms = qtc =0.545
    si ht15" = 400w rms = qtc = 0.595

    Wow, thanks Scott :)

Looks to me like the 2 x aw1500v drivers have the edge? That might be quite an exciting upgrade, and some serious spl for half the cost of an fiQ driver.

You have definitely given me some stuff to work on :)

Oh yeah!!! aw1500v's all the way baby especially as you've got the 8033 cinema to take care of the bad stuff a diy subs or any sub for that matter can throw at ya.

I'll probably go for an extra aw150t, that way it's a "stealth upgrade" ;)

Still gives great output and cheap as chips too :)

just modeld this against a fi sp4 15 which is slighltly cheaper and also has the edge but the gz has 50mm xmax.
    Nuclear GZNW 15X

this also models 99% the same as the fi q, but the fi q is not so close to xmax that's in the same size 60l box.
