what does a lfe attenuator do on my amp?

i am using a marantz 4200 reciever with my speaker set up and it has a lfe attenuator and it has these settings 0, -10 and off and i was if i should use it and on what setting?

At a guess I would say that it alters the (low frequency) Sub woofer level. As for what level to set it to, it's probably not a bad idea to experiment in order to see what suits you as we all like things a certain way.

i'm guessing experimentation with the different settings is the best way to find this out
