Wow looks cool but expensive ... If I was buying that I wouldn't buy it but use the money to get a slightly better Sub...

The blurb says it's a programmable parametric filter(s). It doesn't appear to have done much to the peak around 43 hz suggesting that it doesn't have more than one or two bands. In short it looks like an automatic cut-down version of a BFD.

    I'm confused now - Why?
Are you trying to advertise the product or something?
I didn't mean it to you specifically but to people reading the post...as a personal opinion

Phil already owns one of the best subs on the planet, hence the light hearted banter.

I'm lazy and that looks a nice gadget, I've emailed to see if they supply to the UK and at how much.

Looking at the graph it's not bad, excluding the suckout at 50hz it's within + - 3db from 40hz up, how it does on more complex modes would be nice to see.
As for the number of Eq bands, I remember reading about R.A.B.O.S. from Infinity, that a single parametric Eq to reduce the dominent mode in a room is about all you need. This is what Infinity use on their Prelude MTS flagship speakers, $10000 and upwards.

Awesome as the HGS-18 is it won't have a flat response in your room.

    That's why they invented the DD-18 ;)

I need only one question answering when it comes to the DD-18, how does it compare to an HGS18 + BFD combo?

I'd like to find out for myself but the chances of a home demo are somewhere between Sheff UTD winning the European Cup  and Sheff Wed not conceding a goal

Or DD-18 versus one of the big guns in Room Eq, such as Tact or Meridian through a HGS-18. That would be most interesting. You might find certain users of the DD-18 turning the Eq off in such a case.

    My timing is rubbish.

I went to the local HiFi emporium on Saturday only to find that the Velodyne rep had been in on Friday with a DD-15.
Next time I'll go in on my lunch break. :(
