I'm about to buy the Panasonic PWD6 from either Richer Sounds (£1600) or av-sales (£1580 incl. 1 Terminal board, not sure if RS includes one or not)

    I'll need to connect up:

    DVD
    Sky+
    PS2 and/or X-Box
    Possibly VHS
    PC

And want to be able to use 2 inputs at once (eg PS2 + Sky+)

I'm finding it very difficult to follow exactly what cables I should buy to do all this. I need to buy most of the above, plus speakers, amp, wall mount + ???

Help would be appreciated before I go off and get it all wrong.

    Thanks
    Dave

You'll be needing a complete board and a video upconverting 2 zone amp. You are likely to need professional help to do that, unlees you are fairly AV proficient.

Thanks for the reply. I was looking at this lot from av-sales (total £2,583 excluding connections)

    Panasonic TH-42PWD6 + Scart Terminal Board - £1,580
    http://www.av-sales.com/plasma/html/panasonic_th-42pwd6_plasma.html

    Slimline Wallmount - £125
    http://www.av-sales.com/plasma/html/slimline_tilting_plasma_wall_m.html

    Canton 6.1-MX Home-Cinema System - £390
    http://www.av-sales.com/html/canton_movie_6_1-mx.html

    Panasonic DMR-E85EB DVD-RAM Recorder (Multiregion) - £488
    http://www.av-sales.com/html/panasonic_dmr-e85.html

In addition a sky+ box, although maybe normal sky/cable would do just as well with a DVD-RAM recorder and a PS2. Possibly PC and VHS as well, but depending on how much that ups the price for connecting it all up could do without for now - especially the VHS.

Will av-sales sort me out with good advice on set-up (not just to maximise their sales) if I give them a ring ?

    Thanks
    Dave.

That thing, the Canon, is pretty weedy, and really not that cheap. You still need an amp, this is a speaker pack, not an all in one system. The plasma is very cheap, sure. VHS will look fairly pants on a screen this big no matter what you do, but connecting it needen't be expensive. Do you want loads of channels, or might freeview do you? Other options spring to mind for TV. I'm sure AV sales would do their best in both respects if you see what I mean, it's their job afer all, make money, make customers happy. Do you need tilt on your bracket, or can you save some money there too?

    So I'd need something like Denon-AVR 2805 (£582) as well ?

    http://www.av-sales.com/html/denon_avr-2805.html

Don't really need a tilting wall mount, so could go with this one (£89) to save a little
    http://www.rs100.co.uk/

These speakers seem to be approved of here for around £240 from Germany - but I'm not sure why to buy them, maybe missing the obvious but I can't see where to buy on the site.

But then all that would cost just shy of £3k, which is more than I was anticipating paying (and without the cables to connect it all up)

Is it worth going for cheaper equipment, or is the general opinion if you're not going to do it properly it's not worth doing (the whole thing is getting quite confusing now!)

    Thanks again

    Dave.

(I've been waiting for a call back from an av-sales person for an hour or so but nothing yet so will give them a call back in the morning)

I can't even buy the screen and work the rest out later with all the choices of free board from av-sales.

Scart Terminal Board, Composite and SVHS (shared) BNC, Composite and SVHS (shared) RCA, Component Video (BNC), Component Video (RCA), DVI-D (HDCP compliant), Component SVHS Composite BNC

Would replacing the speakers, Denon and DVD with one of these work without losing (too much) quality ? (saves £600 - £700 on the above, which is more the price range I was aiming for)

    http://www.av-sales.com/html/panasonic_sc-ht37r.html (£727)
    http://www.av-sales.com/html/panasonic_scht1500.html (£813)

    Thanks again
    Dave.
