Top pocket of your shirt. Well the canon ixus range would be a good start. There's the sony W1, pretty good camera

My fav though would be the canon S60. If i was going to buy a compact thats the one i'd buy well it would be the S70 but at your budget the S60 (Replace by the 70) would be my choice

The Canon Ixus range is superb - I'd pick up last years model to save money and get under your £200.....something like the IXUS IIs is simply fantastic..

I use mine at parties etc and often get better results than my long zoom big lensed cameras

I'm looking for more or less the same thing. I've been dithering for a while now.

I hadn't considered the S60/S70 before, but they look quite interesting. The wide-angle doesn't seem very common in the compacts. I was also looking at the A95, which is 200 quid on Amazon. Looking at the specs, the S60/S70 seem to be a similar size to the A95, but I think this might be a bit too big for my shirt pocket. What do you reckon Seany? Is the S60 better than the A95? Are my shirt pockets too small?

The other idea I had was to get a Nikon Coolpix 3200 for now (100 quid from nikon.co.uk) and get something better later. New models seem to be coming out all the time. There is a Sony W5 and a W7 in the pipeline.

If you want a truly 'small' camera that still takes excellent pics and is not plasticly made I doubt you'll get any better than this.....read the reviews for yourself :-

http://www.ajpurdy.co.uk/ - Canon Ixus 40....£199 delivered.

They are wider then most compacts which are 35mm. The extra 7 mm is a very good feature. They have much more manual control then the ixus range and most other compacts i can thing off (had a ixus 400) Best compacts on the market imo

You need to go and feel one in your hand they are longer then some compacts. Putting a camera (any camera) in a shirt pocket is not a good idea its going to fall out for sure. would fit in a lot of shirt pockets i'm sure, longer then some compacts. Would fint in your jeans/jacket with ease

The canon's 10 mm wider the sony's 38mm. That makes it a much better camera for landscapes and indoor shots. Lrger aperture range aperture priorty, compact flash 1/2. Can shoot with raw

The huge 10mm diff puts the nail in the 200's coffin without the other features

Yeah that's a good choice mate. You're pretty spoilt for choice really so many good cameras out there of that spec.

I would not go putting it in your shirt pocket mind:lesson:

I got my sister the Ixus 40 (£195) over the Pentax s5i due to better indoor capabilities (apparently)

It's a superb piece of kit - very small / compact and stylish
