Now I've got a good DVD player I'm looking to upgrade my Pro-Logic system to one that can handle DD and DTS.

I'm not sure if I should get a cheap system like the Sony STR-DE475 for now and look at a more expensive one in a year or so when the new sound formats like DD 6.1 & 7.1 have appeared (the Denon AVC-A1D looks great, but is it worth the extra?)

I'm looking to spend around £500 but could strech to £1000.

Any advice would be greatly received.

    Thanks,
    Glenn

I have the Sony STRDB 940 which Richer Sounds are now selling for 299 (makes me sick - mine cost 499). I can't think of a better amp for the price. The only amp I can think of that would be a step up (from the reviews) will cost you another 450 (the Denon - can't remember the model number - sorry).
Sony is great for films and very good for music - highly recommend it.

Stretch to GBP600 and get the Denon AVR-3801 or wait for it's successor AVR-3802 (with DPL II), but it will probably cost around GBP800.
