Just wondering what currency you choose when you order from dvd boxoffice as it gives a choice of either US$ or Canadian $ and does it make any difference ?

I used to use them and always went or canadian....it saved a little bit, but maybe only 20-50p. Now, the exchange rates have changed a bit so i think the 2 are really very similar

Like Buns, I selected Canadian$ as the rates were better at the time.

I also selected Canadian $ because of the small saving, however I haven't used DVDBoxOffice in a long time now.

i noticed of late that if you use the multi search price thingy it says that dvdboxoffice are one price but go to their site and it's 50p+ out in the less favourable direction for Canadian:(

    Always use http://www.xe.com/ucc/
    for conversions.

I have to say that my foreign purchases are not charged at the rates which such calculators say. My credit card company applies the banks tourist rate (or quite close) and i have found the calculators to mislead me before. Personally, i dont think there is any better way than a personal calculator and the newspaper!

The rates quoted on Yahoo are very close. You just need to add an extra 0.1 onto the conversion to get the rate I get charged. Don't forget that c/card companies calculate the exchange rate on the day the transaction comes through - so newspapers are out of date when you buy them anyway!

I don't think you have a option on what u get charged in on dvdboxoffice anyhow... you can choose how you view the prices on the website (Can $ or US $ etc etc ) but when they bill your card its always in Candian Dollars..( I think this is in there small print somewhere - but its not surprising as they are a Candian comapany) The prices on the website are just converted to make it easier for the customer.

I had initially assumed that the canadian and american rates were there only for convenience, but i think they actually do make a difference, i have been billed in both american and canadian.

Yes, you can choose what currency the bill in, not only what's displayed.

Their online currency converter isn't much worth, try this one here instead:

    http://www.xe.net/ucc/

However note that you are billed on the date of shipping only, so the price still may differ a bit.
