Brown and tan...hardly inspiring but it has to double as a living room and keep the wife happy ;) :D

If I had a dedicated room I think I would be going for a very dark wall covering though.

Dulux matt firecracker (dark red) on side walls and ceiling. Dulux hot paprika on door and skirting (very dark red going to brown) and black carpet tiles on rear wall. Looks good (to me anyway)

I've just painted mine matt black, I was going for dark grey but my wife insisted on the colour. It's amazing the positive effect it has on the image, I'd bought an hs50 and was impressed by the image, but not wholly happy. Putting it in the black room transformed it, in fact I'd got it in there, went to calibrate it dropped in DVE and was happy with the images it showed so I left it. I'll get round to it at some point.

Doesn't look quite as depressing as it sounds, in fact it looks quite cool. I'll put some pictures up when I have time.

I'm with Spamboy- Mine's not black, but Icestorm 2,3 and 4 with black, with 2 on the ceiling

The missus went mad when she heard what I planned, but now loves it!

a quick pic of the room, not in cinema mode, settee moved to the side:

    Cheers for that :smashin:

Going to change the settee for a black L shaped one, and put a 32in Lcd on the side wall for casual viewing , together with one of those Yamaha sound projector thingies on zone 2 of the amp for psuedo surround across the room when watching lcd with the blackout blinds open

That should give me the best of both worlds :)

My previous colour scheme was quite close to yours, so it seems we have similar tastes!

I need to persaude the wife that we should paint out ceiling grey...I think it looks great and it can only help with the picture on the screen compared to a white ceiling

The colour of the ceiling is one thing I just can't seem to be able to get her to budge on :(

Allthough she would have to get used to it if she happened to come home from work one day and find it painted :smashin:

Well to be fair when i was getting my cellar converted my wife had no interest in it whatsoever (as it was a mess down there until complete) so i was going to paint it black etc. As soon as the conversion was done she then took interest in it, hence why we compromised on Chocolate and Ivory suede effect.

The dark grey ceiling has actually enhanced the look of the room- my missus' words, not mine!

She was alarmed when she first saw the paint going on, but I used the Dulux web sit which allows you to try colour combinations on screen, then printed it off and showed her.
Actually, the picture lightened the colours somewhat, which helps when you show it to her!

    http://www.dulux.co.uk/webapp/wcs/s...&SiteID=ukretail&contentPage=now_paint_ie.jsp

Once you get agreement on the picture, she can't complain.

    Try it, it works!

Ps, here's a comparison pic with my previous brown based scheme with a white ceiling

Apart from technical issues with the pj, I prefer it- and so does my other half- as it is now

    Result :D

    :suicide:

Doesn't like to compromise, does she

Still, near black is a good place to start from if you have to negotiate- like Inzaman..

Keep trying- it really doesn't look like most would think
