What price bracket are you looking at?
How much optical zoom do you want?
If you narrow it down this site give a score for battery life an example on this link http://www.megapixel.net/html/issueindex.php?lang=en Choose a camera then look at Our Opinion.

The re-shooting time, can depend on how good of a file save you want to take and what resolution on my 4 megapixel camera it takes 10 seconds in SHQ to re-shoot a picture but only 5 in HQ.

i dont really want to pay more than £200

as the moment i have a kodak 3 megapix, im looking for 4 megapix or more

as i said the main reason i want to change my camera is because the
kodak reloads very slowly once i have taken a photo, which is a pain when you want to take very quick photos

Don’t forget the more megapixels you use, the bigger the file size, so slower memory loading time.

How long do RAW images take to write to the card? In my camera it takes an absolute age to write a TIFF :frown:

Well i guess it would depend on the speed of the card and the size of the file really nicola. The faster the card the faster the dl. But it's no good having a 40x speed card if your cam only writes at 20x. That was pointed out to me not long ago on here. Never really thought about it before then

Can recommend the Minolta Z1 which I now believe is replaced by Z2. Anyway I did see it for £175 a while back (Z1 that is)

I used to have an Olympus C3000 Zoom, but found using digital zoom or cropping shots & then enlarging caused too much degradation in shots.

The Z1 has 10 x optical zoom, which is great for capturing shots of people from a fair distance away . in natural poses, as they don't feel intimidated by a camera in their face ;) Seems fast load time to me in JPG mode.
