Congratulations on posting the very first "what is your favourite.........." thread of 2003.

Lets' hope that this year we can show a little more originality instead of churning out the same old rubbish every other week.

Well, that's 60% of all threads accounted for.

Hope you had a good New Year celebration.

Adam.

From Hell is an above average surround sound showcase.
Haven't seen any great claims made for it before watching but it startles in places.

Admittedly it isn't DTS, so perhaps it doesn't count :) .

I think you'll find that the R1 version is in dts -
mine is!

If you like Queen, give their Greatest hits a try -
excellent sound quality and surround mix although
the quality of the videos are, well, crap!

Why hide flames version of Bohemian Rhapsody ?

Agree PQ is poor, even compared to VHS in places.

Just found this thread whilst searching for info re:

Queen, Greatest Video Hits, 2 DVD Set

which I have just purchased. Couldn't believe the bad picture quality and wondered if I had something weird. I can't watch this - no matter how good the sound.

Why is the picture so bad? I've seen most of the videos featured in this DVD in far, far better condition in a normal terrestial broadcast. The DVD cover states:

"Completely restored and remixed in 5.1 surround sound"

Restored? You're havin' a laugh matey.

Any ideas anyone?

You have to be JOKING!

The sound is terrible!

5.1? More like a botched 4.1 mix.

Note, no centre channel on all but two of the tracks.

Agree about the pic quality though, worst one in my collection. Daren't show it to anyone, too embarrassing!

16:9

The whole thing was so BAD, I sent it back thinking it was faulty....it wasn't

Can't get the menu to work properly either.

Same with you?

Menu comes up and then disappears seconds later before selecting anything. Also at the start of each video, the title comes up and then - no signal, dead screen - a little later the video starts.

In all, a craaaaapppy experience. What a shame. Queen of all groups, to go and do this to.

The suits on this one need a right smacking!

My favourite DTS disc just has to be Hell Freezes Over which is a modern recording of a band that used to be famous in the seventies.
