I was watching the top 50 best 80's tunes on some music channel and I was struck by how many were pure cheese. This got me thinking that although they're often derided, cheesy tunes are often some of the catchiest tunes around. The program also took me back to my Student Union days dancing to the worst tunes imaginable (god knows where they found the dj's to play at my local venue).

Anyway to start off, two of my favourites are:

    Chain Reaction - Diana Ross
We Built This City - Starship

So what cheesy tunes do you like or get your dancing feet tapping?

Taylor Dayne - Tell it to my heart.
Feargle Sharkey - A good heart (pure cheddar!!!!)

....and of course, practically anything from the SAW (Stock Aitken Waterman) hit factory (Ricky Astley, early Kylie, Jason Donovan etc). I have to confess to liking cheesey music, and I'll probably sound like my parents sounded when I was at school...... but at least it has tune!

a quick joke from the eighties....
"Where does Kylie Minogue get her Kebabs from?"
    ...Jason's Donovan!
    :D

    Crazy - Britney Spears
Summer of 69 - Bryan Adams
In the Middle of the Night - Billy Joel

I suppose if there was some kind of map, or say globe, of cheese the SAW hit factory would be located right at the center of it.

Ahh Rick Astley and who can forget (although I'd like to) Sinitta, Banarama and Mel & Kim. How did that Mel & Kim song, Get Fresh, go:

"Can't afford to wear diamond and pearl, that's okay
Wouldn't want to be that kind of girl anyway"

That song used to get me up on Saturday mornings. I forget the name of the kid's tv show that theme was for though. Back to cheese and I have to add one of the classics of the genre to this list:

Chesney Hawkes - The One And Only
