    It did :D

    I'll look forward to reading your thoughts, I really want you to say the Orbe wins hands-down but have a horrible feeling it is going to be the BDP-1 :zonked:

    NOT a fair competition in any way :blush:

    As I mentioned earlier in this thread, the death of vinyl has been greatly exagerated.....

    In the mid 90's I ran an Ariston RD40 turntable with the Audiolab 8000CDM/DAC (although strictly speaking they were originally designed by Cambridge Systems Technology in the very late 80's if I remember correctly) into an 8000a amp and castle speakers. The Ariston RD40 had absolutely no problem musically against the Audiolabs, so even an entry level Linn LP12 as mentioned would out perform the Ariston, making it no contest IMHO.

    It takes a very special disc spinner, again IMHO, to outperform vinyl from even a modest investment turntable even today.

    Following the loss of the Bryston BDA-1 for my digital duties, I have had a nice afternoon of listening to vinyl, the opposite end of technology :rolleyes:

    Stevie Nicks - Bella Donna
    U2 - Under a blood red sky
    Dire Straits - Alchemy
    Lindisfarne - fog on the tyne
    Carole king - tapestry

    The Doors via Project headbox headphone amp and Grado SR60is headphones. Amazing amount of details, puts my speakers to shame in that respect!

    :laugh::laugh:

    I do love stepping back to yesteryear every now and again, it's so nostalgic popping a cd into the tray :) I wonder in 20 years time if cd's will be as fondly remembered as vinyl is today?

    Normal service resumed tonight :-

    Emigrate - Emigrate - Flac through Bryston BDP-1

    Private Investigations - The Best of Dire Straits & Mark Knopfler on CD

    Saw a documentary on Mark Knopfler on BBC4 the other week and dug out some of his albums. They wrote some absolute classics. One of my favourite bands of all time!
