I must admit I stole this idea from a Bryston forum Stateside  but thought we could start one up over here and extend the theme by also mentioning what device you are using to play the music back on as there are so many options nowadays.

I'd be really interested to hear what everyone is listening to as lately I've re-discovered my love for all thisngs 2ch and would love to try some new music so hopefully this thread will point some music of interest my way :)

At the moment I've been working my way through Nick Caves back catalogue, at the moment I'm listening to 'The Murder Ballads' on my shiny new Bryston BCD-1 CD player

Jimi Hendrix - Valleys of Neptune - excellent album in 180g vinyl, well mastered, and masterfully played.

Yamaha 100w/ch stereo amp

Diamond 9.6 speakers

Vintage Pioneer PL-35A turntable with Stanton 680EE cartridge with new hyper-elliptical stylus.

Though if I want, to this I can add an additional Onkyo 50w/ch amp with a pair of DIY box speaker with 12" woofers. I mostly only use the second setup for action movies. For which, the pair combined really rock the house.

If you like masterful guitar, then anything by Roy Buchanan, the absolute master of the squeaky electric blues guitar. That man is a legend.

Here are some videos that should give you an idea of what I mean -

roy buchanan - Google Search

Also, liking Buddy Guy - more blues guitar, and Joe Cocker.

Yes he is. I was lucky enough to see him live two nights in a row back in the day when he was still with us.
'Your not Alone' on vinyl is my Roy Buchanan favourite but 'Best of' is a great way to start with an awesome rendition of 'Hey Joe' worth the entry price on its own.

I'm listening to a bit of jazz right now. The Zoe Rahman Trio Live. Recorded at the Pizza Express Jazz Club in Soho London 2007.
I think I got it from a recommendation from a UK hifi mag a few months ago.
Its very good. Not to die for...but very good.
Listening 2 channel of course from the Arcam 37 (BCD1 still in box) through the Primare pre30 into the Arcam 777 and out of my big beasts of speakers the Vaf I93 MK2's. IMHO the best speaker made in Australia right now.

Nice thread vipers.

Hi Steve, this is definately going to be ordered as I've never been a Hendrix fan but just lately I've found myself really beginning to appreciate what he does and didn't know were to start with his back catalogue, and as my turntable will be arriving shortly then this will make an excellent start

What a terrific album that is. "You Only Disappear" and "Mermaid Blues" are absolute masterpieces. Tom McRae is criminally overlooked.

Couldn't agree with you more, Seen him live afew times, so talented, it always amazes me that certain 'average' singers do really well and no one has even heard of Tom Mcrae, maybe this thread will help :)

Really hoping his new album is the standard of Just Like Blood, apparently the reviews say it is.

Tom's a one-off. Just Like Blood is stunning, with Karaoke soul being the (marginal) stand-out for me. If the new one is as good as this, it'll be a miracle - but I'm ready to be persuaded.

Oh, currently listening to 'The Edgar Broughton Band' (again, eponymous!), with Evening Over Rooftops perhaps being my favourite, on Rega Planar 3/RB300/A&RP77/Audiolab 8000c/Pair of NAD902s/Kef Q55.2s (all of which needs brightening up somewhat, so am looking for a cartridge change if anyone has any suggestions.... As you'll see, I'm strictly on a budget though!).
