Duncan, I sort of stole your idea - in reverse.

I'm sure there are a load of us guys who sit through two hours of a film with our loved one knowing that just as the credits role she'll come forth with "What on earth possessed you to buy that"
Sometimes I get the same reaction before the opening titles finish.

Anyhow my bottom five from this year are:
    Woman on Top
    Best in Show
    The Cell
    Bing It On
    The Beach

Actually nothing wrong with the picture or sound, but I took some risks while purchasing those titles just to find less then I thought it will be:

Three Kings - lousy movie, IMHO

Space Cowboys - not as funny as expected

The Art of War - disappointing

I bought a few budget priced discs from Warner Bro's recently. This included "A time to kill". Great movie, but a flipper disc with no indication of this on the packaging.

I suppose the worst movie I got was "Zombie Holocaust". Nicely presented disc, but a grade z horror movie. Still kinda fun though.

I don't really buy bad films, occasionaly I take a gamble on something I haven't seen before but I usually know I'll probably like the film. I guess the worst recently has to be:

The 6th Day - Some nice action but Arnie reaches new levels of badness

I didn't buy, but unfortunatly I did borrow, and watch:

Little Nicky - So, so bad....

Scary Movie - So, so bad....

    Hi,

I guess I must be lucky, in that I rarely buy chronically bad films on disc, unless it's a deliberate intention of mine.

However, I wasn't impressed with the following:

"The Cell" - looks fab, but doesn't say anything or go anywhere in its plot, and Jenny Lopez can't act at all!

"Shadow Of The Vampire" - talented cast and crew making the "SOTV" movie, but what a bad script. At the end, your left with the feeling of "yeah, and..." or "So what now?"!

    Glad I only rented these.

For me it has to be :

Virtuosity - crap considering Denzel Washington is in it, his films are normally pretty good.

Mission to Mars - just a bit boring to say the least

Red Planet - again bit crap, good quality disc though.

Event Horizon - saw it on video a while ago, thought it was total pants!!

the rest of the stuff i´ve bought recently has been pretty good to be honest.

    cheers
    Jase

I agree with the cell, mission to mars etc. I have to add "dungeons and dragons" pointless, looks like a film based on a saturday morning cartoon, too much CGI. Worst of all. Million Dollar hotel :( dreadful pretentious up itself garbage. Not even worth renting. Wasnt keen on that last one ;)

I agree with all you guys about Mission to Mars and Red Planet, oh yeah and Dungeons and Dragons, thank god i only lent it off a friend, but i also thought that Lost Souls with Winnona Ryder in was a bit disapointing too, also Get Carter with Stallone, i know...
Ninth Gate was crap the first time also.
Reindeer Games, great cast but a one time only showing i think,
But as Swartzy says its only an opinion.

Have to agree with comments on 'the cell' and 'mission to mars' - only rented them though.
Most of the stuff I buy I've already seen, so know I like it.
V.disappointed with 'the bone collector' as well. Usually like anything to do with serial killers
    :D - .

Haven't bought many stinkers this year coz I learnt my lesson, but 5 that I really regret buying in the past are:

    (1) Deep Rising (R2)

    (2) Die Hard 1 & 2 (R2) just 1 week before they announced the release of the R1 SE's ***!! Had to sell them to a mate at cut price.

    (3) The Watcher (R1)

    (4) The Cell (R1)

    (5) Shakesperare In Love (R2) HTF did this win Best Picture???

I was the one who bought The Watcher.
I think thats about the same as 7 or 8 normal bad films. :(
Red Planet and Mission to Mars also are quite high in my chart.
In fact my collection must have loads of duffers...have a look see what you think.

    My possibly naff collection.
