I've noticed some high powered amps are digital switching. What does this mean? How do they work? And how do they differ from normal poweramps?

What are the drawbacks of digital switching amps?

    Thanks

They are used a lot in Subs but are also starting to come into full frequency amplifier design now, the main advantage is that they are supposed to be over 90% efficient.
