OK, i've been eyeing up an AV reciever and new speakers and i have a limited budget (around £400) and need a reciever with scart inputs for video as i have consoles/dvd/PC all connected to the telly. its in a fairly small room so huge power isn't essential (although ...)
i was looking at the Pioneer VSX501 but would i get an OK set of speakers with the remainder of the cash ?
Any advice would be much appreciated !

We, Sevenoaks in Edinburgh, currently have the Pioneer VSX301 AV receiver for £200 and the Tannoy FX 5.1 package for £250 which should bring the total including cabling fairly close to your inital budget of £400.

    Glen,

I wrote this info on adamzetec's thread

I reckon hifistore have a good deal on the Tannoy's. £240 which includes 1pair of Tannoy stands, 5m sub cable, 25meters speaker cables and 5year warranty and delivery.

    http://www.hifistore.co.uk/product.php?qsProd=TANNOYFX&S=eb46628a7ceab5f85b2a4f4c1eabf08c

Or if you don't want the stands or subcable then vickers hifi is selling them for £210 delivered, that means Richers will go down to £200

I think you can get an additional speaker for the fx5.1 package for about £40 - I would think this would be the best idea to keep it all matching sonically - peter tyson is a good place to start for this (or stone audio)

I have noted that someone has commented that the sub is the only down side to the fx package but I haven't set them up yet for my folks so I cant confirm...
