As per title. I have recently bought a new Toshiba HD DVD player and will shortly be looking to upgrade my A/V surround reciever.
I will need it to be able to produce the new sound formats so can anyone point me in the right direction.
Will be looking to spend between £400-£700max.

Currently there are no AV receivers/processors that can decode the new sound formats. All decoding needs to be done in the player and sent to the 5.1/7.1 analogue inputs that are on many of the current receivers.

I take it that you have just purchased the Toshiba HD-E1. As mentioned above the player can decode the new formats, but in the case of the E-1 there are no analogue outputs. Not to worry however, all you need is an Amp that can accept Linear PCM audio (and process it) over HDMI 1.1 (or 1.2). You should ask a dealer specifically if the product that interests you can do this. I think you will be looking at the higher end of your budget though.
