    Hi,

I have a Toshiba 210e plugged into an overloaded Sony TV, SCARTS that is.

Now I want (or is it my other half is letting me ???) some sort of Home Cinema AMP, and speakers.

The only must is a remote control for the volume !!!

What do I go for ???

I have £300, it doesn't have to be the newest, been a Richer Sounds fan for years

Any ideas out there .. URL's to follow ..... etc

    Cheers

I'm in same boat a you. Would like decent amp and speakers too. Been looking at Sony HTK-475 for £370 from techtronics.com

Seems to get good reviews and has dolby and dts decoders with speakers and subwoofer.

    Best I've found so far.............

    Still looking

Without a doubt current "hot potato" is the marantz SR4200. if you`re a member of the DVD forums, you`ll be able to pick one up for £250 through the bargain forums there.

Extra £70 would get you the 6.1 Marantz SR5200, which just got 5 stars in What hi-Fi this month.

If you need something with speakers, then as suggested already in this thread, the yamaha HTiB40 is a good value pack for £400:)

    Hope this helps?

    Ok, guys,

Went to my local HiFi shop, Audio Excellence, to suss out the Yamaha mentioned above.

Have a chose of the new RX-v420 for £300 or a ex demo RX-v620 for £300.

Also the guy reckons the Marantz SR4200 is very good, with prologic II at £300 or the SR5200 for £400.

OK any ideas or thoughts on which is best ??????

    Or any alternatives ?????

    Cheers

You could get a brand new Yam AX620 for £300 by shopping around, off the net or instore from Richer Sounds is one such place.

SR5200 has the quality and features which would probably make it the best choice (says the Yam AX620 owner miserabley), and the most expensive.

Go for the marantz, but go to dvdforums, register (if you are not a member!) and get the Sr4200 for £250, or the SR5200 for £330!

Another option worth considering is the Yamaha RXV420RDS, nice budget receiver for under £250.

    hope this helps!
