Oh I am a little boy when it comes to AV. Hands-up, guilty as charged.

And I probably will not sleep much the night/day santa delivers my HD box, but hey at least I am honest:)

I think next we will have higher quality high def, maybe 1080p as standard when band width becomes cheeper and some time in the future youve got to imagine some form of 3D will be avalable, or maybe some form of Cortical Implants where you can just plug your Sky Ultra HD box into your brain doing without the need of a screen.....watch enough SciFi and you will find the answer some where.

and it will be sooner than some think. With ADSL MAX (introduced on 31 March this year) many people will get broadband speeds in excess of 6Mbit/s. You'll easily be able to download a number of films or HD programmes overnight.

I reckon they'll try and convince us that we are losing information on the HD service, and should buy a new "highscreen" set with an aspect ratio of around 1.33:1 to regain the vertical resolution we lost when we all bought "widescreen" displays....

I've had confirmation on this one - can't expose my source - the DRM on this will immediatly remove any memory of watching the programme, so as to avoid any copyright infringement by storing it in the human brain. That way you can pay to view it again, and again, and again and never get board of the repeats!!;)

That the latest ADSL upgrade BT is doing to it's exchanges this year. The standard 2meg speed should be increased to 8meg making allowances for local ADSL performance based on cable quality and distance.
Any ISP who takes BT wholsale should be in a position to offer these upgrades if they so choose.

ISP Review is a good resource.

Most UK exchanges are being upgraded now, with the service being available from 31 March, so it will arrive before Sky HD. It increases the feasibility of delivering HD through your broadband connection, since you'll be able to download a whole HD film overnight, for example.

BT Wholesale are doing the upgrade, as has been said most exchanged will be upgraded to 8mb, but the majority of people live too far from the exchange and will only get 4mb+.

Personally i'm waiting for my exchange to be upgraded in April so i can get 22mb with either Be or UKOnline. I'm already at 8mb with bulldog and i need more power!

    taken from Wikipedia
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultra_High_Definition_Video

"Super Hi-Vision, also known as Ultra High Definition Video or UHDV is a digital video format, currently proposed by NHK of Japan.

    Resolution: 7,680 × 4,320 pixels.
    Frame rate: 60 frame/s.
    22.2-channel audio
    9 - above ear level
    10 - ear level
    3 - below ear level
    2 - low frequency effects
    21GHz frequency band
    600MHz, 500~600mbps bandwith
The new format is four times as wide and four times as high (for a total of 16 times the resolution) as existing HDTV, which has a maximum resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels. Because this format is highly experimental, NHK researchers had to build their own prototype from scratch. In the system demonstrated in September 2003 they used an array of 16 HDTV recorders to capture the 18-minute-long test footage. The camera itself was built with four 2.5 inch (64 mm) CCDs.

18 minutes of UHDV consumes 3.5 terabytes of data.

Preliminary response of the UHDV was somewhat negative. This was not because of the lack of the promised technology, but more in the fact that it was too good. Some viewers got motion sickness when viewing the video image because the image was so close to reality.
In November 2005 NHK demonstrated a live relay of Super Hi-Vision (UHDV) program over a distance of 260 km by a fiberoptic network. 24 gigabit speed was achieved using DWDM (dense wavelength division multiplex) method with a total of 16 different wavelength signals.

    :)

HD2 is due for release July 2029, you have 360 vision, 360 sound and you can actually interact with everything around you, of Course HD stands for hollo deck, but dont get two excited, you need 4 boxes costing £800 each and a monthly subscription reported to be around £60 a month!!! bit steep if you ask me.

3200 quid for a hollo deck would be an absolute bargain. It's a bit of a worry what may happen to the human race if we ever get one though. If you could experience everything you want to experience with whoever you want to experience it with without ever leaving the house, other than to earn money for food and electricity, why go anywhere?

I reckon the next step will be HD2, or will the creators of CRT tech in TV will bring a kind of CRT 2 HD out. Just like the creators of PCI did when they brought PCI Express out guys.

If it were real it must have countless hoodie wearing hoodlums running around on-screen waving their ASBO's at despairing policemen and dirty old men in brown flashmacs!
