What is your favourite non cartoon TV Super Hero?

Mine is William Katt as Ralph Hinkley/Hanley alias The Greatest American Hero. This seemed what a real super-hero would do in near real life, and was great fun, but not silly, and plenty of action with good and non formalistic plots. For those who don’t know the series it was about a school teacher Ralph Hinkly who was given a super heroes costume by aliens, which when worn gave him super powers. The big problem was he lost the instruction book how to use the costume. Also he was the teacher of a rough class, was a single parent, but had an ex, and would want the child back if she found out about the costume. He also had a friend, friend! a FBI agent he did missions for, Robert Culp as Bill Maxwell, which the word subtle was not in his dictionary, but gung-ho on every other with right wing on the others to that. He got in some fine predicaments, could not fly proper, he once went to the toilet to change into his costume and found it all wet on the floor round the toilet basin (this never happend to Superman), almost got declared a mental case, but always came trough in the end. Some of the team behind it, was behind The Rockford Files.
It was quite popular in the states but was put up against a more popular program and with some other problems the rating fell, it was then cancelled. When it was shown here it was not networked, and was put on in the morning in most regions that did show it, so never reattached the popularity it deserved. This was 1 hour of sheer pleasure and always left me with a smile on my face and wanting next week to rush by to see the episode. Unfortunately not all of the series were shown in my region. This was about the same time as The A-Team which was given a prime time of 5:15 on a Saturday afternoon.

That was my favourite, the second was The Flash, for some reason was never picked up by the main channels, probably he didn’t cook, design gardens, did interior decorating, and wasn’t a reality program.

If it comes to cartoons, mines the X-Men.

Im slightly confused, do you meen those which have not been turned into cartoons ? The Flash I think appears in the new JLA cartoon so you should see him there and there was once a rather good ( in a way ) TV series featuring him.

My Fav is Batman, but if im not allowed to include him I would then have to say Nightwing.

Perhaps a cliche and a giveaway from my avatar, but Brandon Lee as 'The Crow' (the original Eric Draven) gets my vote.

So that's what it is - and there's me thinking that it was a ku klux klan burning cross.

Any super hero series that contain live actors, doesn’t mater what other format they have been in. So Batman would be OK.

Sounds like 'The Champions'. Two characters were Sharon and Richard, and Craig played by a Stuart?

    Close, but no cookie?

    AAAAH you edited it!

    I got it!

    And quick too.

Yes, I released I had put Craig Stirling real name in i.e. Stuart Damon, the second I clicked submit reply, and it took ages for the bar at the bottom to reach the end, so I clicked on reset and altered it. Got two up, then lost my connection.

I s'pose Hopkirk (as in Randall) could be classed as a superhero, if not then The Spleen!

I suppose Marty could be classed as a super-hero. Which series are you on about though.
    I prefer the 70s original.

I (barely) remember an old tv show, around the mid eighties i think, where these guys all had different powers i cant remember how they got them but the character that really sticks in my mind was a guy who could charge up electricity in his body then Shoot it out of his fingers all emperor like. i think they all worked for the government and did jobs and stuff. Any one have a clue what i'm talking about?

Also i like Automan you know the guy that was a comuter generation and he had that curser that could make a car. it was really cool.

and i couldent forget CONDOR MAN played by that some mothers do have em guy. available on DVD too.

theres more obscure hero tv shows too hiding on the fringes of my memory but i cant be bothered remembering now.
Cool thread. got the old memory pumping

I would have liked to have seen Thor as in the Marvel Comics in The Return Of The Incredible Hulk, rather than some one running round like an extra from The Vikings.

Whilst I’m at it does any body know if Mutant X gets good (if it got only better, it still would be a long way from good).

It called Homes and Yo-Yo. Yo-Yo was a robot, played by John Shuck, who also played a detective in Mc Milan and Wife?
