I had my Pioneer 565 DVD player set up OK for Digital surround and my mate came round with a stereo only disk, on playing it, the sound did not seem right so I switched some of the settings back on the player back to PCM and it worked OK.
I then thought I set the settings back to what they were and have gone back to playing proper digital i.e. 5.1 discs but I’m not getting the proper surround, no near and no centre so all I’m getting seems to be front sound effects.

EDIT I have just allterd the switching on my amp and I have got voices coming out of the fron but it is from the front stereo speakes, this may be an amp setting.

Anyway what setting should I have on the DVD player?
