    Hi

I'm interested in the Wharfedale 32-PF1 wide screen tv.
Done numerous searches but cant find any tests / info on this particular set. I did manage to fine out that the chassis is a 'Vestel' which I've never heard of!
Anybody got one of these sets or read anything about them and is 'Vestel' a trusted name ?

    Many Thanks

Last year a few guys here at work bought 28" wharfedale tellys.

the entire batch was recalled due to a fault in the wiring maybe causing a fire.

    they all switched to LG

look at www.hienergyshop.co.uk is where they got thiers from

Vestel is a Turkish OEM factory, they supply supermarket makes and also Hitachi, Toshiba and lots of others.
Recently Hitachi needed a 28" widescreen, they plumped for a Vestel but made 150 modifications to make it acceptable.
It is true some Wharfedale badged sets have suffered safety recalls regarding fire hazard, particularly by Tesco.

Yes but in fairness, they are not the only recalls and Tesco were very upfront about it.

Any set that says "Made in Europe" (as distinct from the EC) could be made in Turkey.

Wharfedale of course are only doing what so many UK companies are doing - outsourcing to the cheapest factories with the cheapest labour.

Anyway it was only a little fire...
