My television digital receiver Wharfedale TU500DTR now won't switch on (no green light). I have unplugged and re-plugged with a 12 hour wait but with no luck at all over the last 48 hours. It just says 'welcome' then 'please wait' then goes blank then starts the whole process again without the green light ever coming on. All I want to do is retrieve the specially recorded programmes and save them onto a good old fashioned dusty VCR whilst I return and replace the unit. Argos were no help at all in trying to retrieve the programmes. Can anyone help please?

I don't know what you're expecting Argos to do other than replace the unit.
The fault could lie anywhere from a fault in the power supply section, eprom corruption or a duff hard disc.
Is there a "reset" procedure detailed in the user manual perhaps?

And a lesson for the future: always back up anything important.
