    Hi all,
    My Wharfdale sub has stereo inputs on it, RCA not speaker wire. why is this

    so that you can feed it a low level signal...speaker wire connections are for high level connections.

    From what others have said, not many people use the high-level connection, and manufacturers are beginning to not bother including them...

    It is so you can run the subwoofer off the stereo pre-outs on an amp if the amp has them. The sub will convert the stereo signal to mono internally. Some subs have low level inputs and outputs so can be placed between the pre-amp and power amp, occasionally these go through a built in crossover too.
