Just got this a few days ago from Futureent and I'm surprised at how good the transfer is considering the age of the film and when compared to newer films that sometimes get downright awful transfers . It's the R1 MGM release (as opposed to the Warner one) so it has the original cinematic aspect ratio (and is anamorphic). Always loved this movie :D

BTW, is my memory failing me or was a sequel made? If it was, I seem to remember seeing it and thinking it was pants. But I could be getting mixed up with something else.... Can someone please enlighten me on this front? :)

    Well should we be surprised?
They remade Get Carter, they are remaking The Italian Job.
They even remade Doctor No twenty times

You will just have to hope he is the one that gets shoot.
Futureworld I liked the main theme from it.
There was also a TV show of about 5 episodes called "Beyond Westworld" http://us.imdb.com/Title?0080198

Was it any good Garrett (bearing in mind that I only liked Westworld, not Futureworld)?

If so, is it available on DVD? :)

Watchable and that was it, I initially taped them all then hoping it would get going, but it went worse. The first was the best episode. The premise was more of Futureworld than Westworld. The main villain wanted to kill off key figures in power, and replace then with his robots for power, and world peace. It was shown within the last year on Bravo or Sci-Fi.

As to DVD I do not know, probably not, 5 episodes! Could have been cancelled.

I think 'Westworld' was originally released as a double bill with 'The Outfit' staring Robert Duvall, Joe Don Baker, and Robert Ryan, also a good film.

Yeah as has been said they were both written by Michael Chrichton and are both more or less the same story: futuristic theme park goes wrong and the attractions start killing the tourists...

Ah, but in Sexworld they were killed in much more " interesting" ways, I seem to remember.

I was just thinking it would be a novel idea if they did the remake with actors who'd previously played androids/cyborgs. And was then reminded of the excellant film Android, which sadly is not available on dvd to my knowledge. It's one of those 'old' classic type things from the 80s that one would expect to pick up on the cheap like, but alas dear Max we knew him briefly on vhs.:(
