Looks interesting and I'm immediately attracted to Fitzcarraldo but it's great price under £50 so I'd give the set a spin.

As well as Fitzcarraldo I'm also instantly drawn to Aguirre WOG.

I saw a Herzog short film all about the buddhist Mandala creation called 'Wheel of Time' which was amazing, I'd love this on Blu, shame its not on this set, good as it looks

I have the Herzog/Kinski box set on DVD and this will be a day one purchase for me. Its a shame the Herzog documentary 'My Best Fiend' about Klaus Kinski isnt included.

I'll wait for reviews first, cramming all these films on so few discs and at such a low price sets alarm bells ringing.

    Hopefully I'll be proved wrong.

Not a worry. Many of these films are shorts. For example the first two on the list clock in at 14 mins and 13 mins respectively.

    Tasty box set. :)

Reviews of the components of the LE US boxset here

I don't see Burden of Dreams (I have it already on the UK 25th anniversary DVD) and if it's in HD on the UK set I may go for that instead.

Anyone own the German Blu-ray of Fitzcarraldo?

Fitzcarraldo, Aguirre Wrath of God. The Enigma Of Caspar Hauser, Nosferatu and Woyzeck are all must-haves for me so this set is a no brainer.

Will wait for the reviews to come in for the BFI set first, following their less than stellar performance with Citizen Kane.

Amazon.com have dropped this to $101.

Choosing expidited shipping (they pay someone to act as customs agent so no nasty charges as many will know) comes to $133. Should come in at £80 delivered. I pay with a no transaction-fee CC but if you don't have that Amazon's conversion is certainly better than any UK CC I'm aware of.

Amazon UK Marketplace have a similar price but there's always the unRoyal Mail theiving risk.

    Herzog: The Collection HD

    It's all the money @ £80 I reckon.

Any reason not to wait until the end of the month and get the UK release for less than 60 quid?

They look very samey but I'll usually invest in whomever puts the most into a release and so far that looks like Shout!

The UK set is all the money too at £40 for me so once I've had a look at the US set I may get rid of it and buy the BFI one.

Oh, and I like tat and want to get my mits on the US set :D

I'd rather forsake the tat, save twenty quid and buy more BDs with the money instead.:)

I wouldn't give those bumble****s over at Shout Factory, a single dime.

If it's not been DNR'd, their crap encoding software has done it's own job of rendering anything resembling grain as a pixelated mess.

BFI actually deserve the money they're asking for their set. Shout can GTFO.
The below images are just two examples, of how they've treated these movies.

Got my US set -£79.10 delivered.

Beautifully produced set. Very poor packaging though from Amazon Global Expidited -you can tell it had nothing to do with the usual Amazon packers as it was a really nasty cheap jiffy style bag. Delivered 8pm at night by Yodel no signature required.

Will start working my way through the set and be looking closely at the UK set too.

Very keen on this but been splurging on Criterions and other 2nd bargains in the classifieds. My Hitchcock box set arrived too so I have plenty to keep me busy for a while.
