Hi,

Please join me in a peaceful moment to mourn the passing away of a hardware component in my 360.

A love affair that ended nay shy of three weeks from when the affair started under a year ago.

A tear runs down the cheek, a mere whimpering into a hanky, no Rainbow Six completion this year.

Now where's the booze??

Sympathies and feelings are with you at this difficult time:(

At least it was three weeks the good side of your one year guarantee and you should be able to get it changed.

Good luck and hope you get your new 360 soon.

Mine went tits up today as well. Started by freezing all the time, and showing a screen with squares on it. Phoned Microsoft and they recommended trying without the hard drive attached, now all I get is 3 red lights. Phoned them back and am now waiting for an email containing tags that I have to print off and phone UPS. Oh well, it lasted 10 months, just hope I get a replacement for christmas.

I got one red light at the front, and an error message

however it was in my bedroom and when I switched it off and on again it worked. thought it may be the cold, so I moved it in the living room and got the same, but again it worked when I switched it off and on again.

I dont know if this is bad news, but will see again later on.

Yep same problem as mine, I thought it was cables at first as I was using composite through my projector, but putting it back on the normal tv produced the same result. Bit demoralising at this time of year, with the next two and a bit weeks off from work as well from next week.

Mine went out red ringing months ago. Being an imported warranty-less ebay console, it dies and then I bring it back to life with a paintstripper heatgun every once in a while. A bit unconventional but it works for me..

Are these red rings only happening on older models? Or have there been reports on new ones too?

I only got mine 4 days ago, but I'm still worried about the red ring of death

Where did u buy it from, I was going down the same route as you, and then on the off chance I rang Currys and they said bring it in and we'll replace it no problem as it was within its 1st year warranty:thumbsup: Got a brand new one on Monday. Microsoft will send you a re-conditioned unit.

I think this policy depends on where you bought it, Game seem to be good as well but I've heard people having problems with Woolworths!

this is indeed a bad time, half way through an oblivion ruin today, my screen froze. turned it off and on again thinking bloody oblivion (those who have it know) and 20 seconds into game, froze again. on and off after wiping the disc, 3 red lights :suicide: :suicide: :suicide: :suicide:

anyone had experience taking 360 back to game without reciept ???

I've got a bank statement with the transaction on it ??

Yes that should do. You only need proof of purchase, e.g bank statement, reward card etc.

Oh well, UPS have just picked it up. Come home soon my darling. :D

Yeah UPS picked mine up this evening, but then a bout of panic set in as I'm moving house to the darkest depths of Cornwall next Wednesday, so I put a note on the coffin for MS/UPS to pick up and the UPS guy said, they'll probably send it to where I live now, so I'm gonna b spending all nite on the phone to MS support hoping they'll send it to my new address or else there'll be more delays before I get it back, thank god I've got a DS or else I have to spend all my time with my missus :D

Oh the joy

Cheers

Did MS every let on to which part keeps on breaking or does anyone know?

Or when these get sent back do you think they really get fixed or they just have some internal way of reseting them

After reading the title of this thread it made me think. It´s a good job that old PS2 launch game "Ring of Red" wasn´t released on the 360, surely nobody would´ve dared buy it:eek:

got my second 360 back within a year last week,

was one day out of warranty and was told initially £100 + for a repair,

good job i had phoned reporting issues with the box the week before because after an hour long call back with a manager i got my repair.

First time i called MS support person told me i had a 12 month warranty on the returned 360 from April.

Be very careful as returned boxes only carry a sixty day warranty once you are out of your 12 month period.

I just sent my 2nd 360 in for repairs Monday -

How do I know when it's coming back? Do they email or will I just have a missed delivery slip from UPS one day on my doormat?

Surely you should know if this is your 2nd time?

Yes, I guess I didn't phrase it very well -

The first time I had to go through this the 360 just turned up one day. No warning. Does it still work this way or have they actually woken up to the idea they can email you to inform you?

Service centre people honestly have no idea and won't tell me.

I got my first one in December 05, it broke in September 06 ("checkerboard"-style effect on screen, followed by red ring). Argos replaced it, no quibbles. Replacement (manufacture date: June 2006) has just broken down in the same way, Argos will replace this one too, but won't get it until 28th December..........
